Why Unmounted Stamps?
KKS stamps are unmounted. Why unmounted? For a variety of reasons:
- Customer freedom: unmounted stamps give you the choice of how you want to store and maintain your stamps;
- Unmounted images take up far less space, allowing us (and you!) to maintain a greater inventory and give you more images to choose from; and
- Unmounted images cost less for us to produce and ship, so we can pass those savings on to you!
How To Use Unmounted Stamps?
Working with unmounted rubber stamps is easy. When you receive your stamps, you’ll need to trim closely around the images and/or sentiments with a pair of craft scissors. To use your stamps with acrylic stamp blocks (aka mounts), you have a variety of options. You can:
- Adhere the rubber to the mount with double-sided tape. If you select this option, you’ll want to have something with ‘give’ under your paper (such as a mouse pad or sheet of packing foam) to enable you to stamp off a crisper image.
- Permanently affix the rubber to cling mounting foam (such as EZ-Mount or Ammiki cling foam). The cling side of the mounting foam will allow your stamps to adhere to your mounts. When you finish stamping with a particular image, just store it on a storage panel (which can be purchased, or you can make your own, using cardstock and transparency paper).
- Use repositionable glue (such as Aleene’s Tack It Over & Over).
Prime Time!
We recommend ‘priming’ your rubber images before you use them for the first time. Priming the image removes unseen residue left over from the manufacturing process and allows the stamp to accept ink more evenly. Rub a pencil eraser across the surface of the image or lightly scuff the image with an emery board. Clean the image to wash away any eraser/sanding particles, and stamp away!
